[Stone] Limestone Textures
Limestone is a sedimentary stone with soft, chalky grain and visible bedding lines. It weathers by dissolving rather than cracking, which gives it rounded edges and shallow surface pitting instead of sharp fractures.

What's in this collection
- Cut limestone block — sawn faces with fine tool marks and tight joints.
- Weathered limestone — dissolved surface with shallow pits and softened corners.
- Bedded limestone — horizontal sediment layering visible across the face.
- Fossil limestone — shell fragments and grain inclusions in the matrix.
All tiles are seamless in both directions and delivered at high resolution.
Where limestone is used
Historic architecture. Cathedrals, civic buildings, castle walls and cladding.
Mediterranean environments. Coastal villages, terraces and boundary walls.
Cave and cliff levels. Karst formations and eroded rock faces.
Paving and steps. Courtyards, plazas and worn stair treads.
How to use these in Blender
- Load the map into Base Color and keep Metallic at 0.
- Set Roughness high, around 0.85; limestone is matte and dry.
- Add a light subsurface value for sunlit exteriors so it does not read as concrete.
- Use a Bump node rather than displacement — the relief is shallow.
How to use these in Unreal Engine 5
- Import at 2K and use a triplanar material for cliff and cave meshes.
- Blend a moss or dirt layer into crevices with a height-based mask.
- Keep specular low; limestone has almost no sheen when dry.
- Break repetition on large walls with a macro variation multiply.
How to use these in Unity
- Create a URP Lit material and set Smoothness below 0.15.
- Assign the normal map at reduced strength to avoid a plaster look.
- Tile 1–2 times per metre for block walls.
- Use vertex colour to darken bases where rain splash collects.
Tips for limestone specifically
Bedding lines should stay horizontal. Rotating the texture on a wall immediately makes the stone read as fake.
Limestone lightens as it dries and darkens deeply when wet, so a wet variant needs a much lower albedo, not just higher smoothness.
Keep the colour warm and slightly yellow. Neutral grey limestone tends to look like cast concrete.
