[Alpha] Leather Textures

Leather alphas carry a heavily cracked, weathered surface rather than a smooth polished hide — the kind of aged, worn look you'd get from old tooled leather left out too long. Every letter reads as beaten-up, not clean type.

What's in this collection

  • Uppercase set — full A–Z with a cracked leather surface.
  • Lowercase set — matching a–z characters for mixed-case layouts.
  • Fine crack network — a web of thin fractures across each glyph.
  • Muted gray tone — a worn, desaturated finish rather than rich brown leather.

All files are transparent PNG overlays delivered at high resolution.

Where Leather Alpha is used

Western and rugged branding. Type that fits outdoor, vintage, or frontier themes.

Game UI for survival or fantasy titles. Worn, beaten-up title cards and labels.

Craft and leather goods marketing. Type that matches the product's own material.

Album art and poster design. A distressed word treatment with real texture.

How to use these in Photoshop

  1. Drag the PNG directly onto your canvas as a new layer.
  2. Use Free Transform to scale and kern individual letters by eye.
  3. Adjust Curves to warm the tone toward brown if a richer leather look is needed.
  4. Group repeated letters as a Smart Object for reuse across a layout.

How to use these in Figma

  1. Drag each PNG in as its own image layer.
  2. Auto Layout the letters into a row to build custom word marks.
  3. Apply a color overlay to shift the gray base toward a warmer hide tone.
  4. Nudge kerning manually since these aren't a variable font.

How to use these in After Effects

  1. Import each letter PNG as a separate footage layer.
  2. Position and scale them into your word or phrase.
  3. Add a Tint effect to push the tone warmer or cooler as needed.
  4. Pre-compose the finished word before adding further effects.

Tips for Leather Alpha specifically

The crack detail is the whole point — avoid shrinking these so small that the fracture pattern disappears into noise.

A slight warm color grade sells the leather read more convincingly than the default gray tone.

Because kerning is manual, sketch the word length first so the layout doesn't run out of canvas.
