[Alpha] Effect Textures

Effect alphas trade clean geometry for hand-worked texture: brush-stroke edges, painterly fill, and a warm striped grain running through every letterform. They read as crafted rather than typeset, which is exactly the point when a design needs to feel less digital.

Free for personal and commercial use. No attribution required. Commercial games, film, and client work are all permitted. No credit, no backlink, no permission request needed. You may not resell or redistribute the texture files themselves as a texture pack.

How to use these in Photoshop

1. Drag the PNG directly onto your canvas as a new layer.
2. Use Free Transform to scale and kern individual letters by eye.
3. Add a subtle Color Overlay if you need to shift the warm tone.
4. Group repeated letters as a Smart Object for reuse across a layout.

How to use these in Figma

1. Drag each PNG in as its own image layer.
2. Auto Layout the letters into a row to build custom word marks.
3. Nudge kerning manually since these aren't a variable font.
4. Apply a Hue adjustment if the piece needs a cooler palette.

How to use these in After Effects

1. Import each letter PNG as a separate footage layer.
2. Position and scale them into your word or phrase.
3. Animate a rough, uneven reveal to match the handmade texture.
4. Pre-compose the finished word before adding further effects.

Tips for Effect Alpha specifically

The texture reads best at larger sizes — shrink these too far and the brush detail turns to mush.

Pair Effect Alpha with a plain sans-serif body font so the textured word stays the visual anchor.

Because kerning is manual, sketch the word length first to avoid running out of canvas mid-layout.
