[Background] Fabric Textures

Fabric backgrounds bring a woven, cloth-like feel to a flat panel without photographing an actual textile. The weave and slight color variation read as tactile even at screen resolution, which is hard to fake with a plain gradient or a flat color fill dropped behind a layout.

Free for personal and commercial use. No attribution required. Commercial games, film, and client work are all permitted. No credit, no backlink, no permission request needed. You may not resell or redistribute the texture files themselves as a texture pack.

How to use these in Photoshop

  1. Select All, then Edit > Define Pattern.
  2. New layer, fill it via Edit > Fill > Pattern.
  3. Add a Bevel layer style at low intensity for extra weave depth.
  4. Scale the pattern with Free Transform as needed.

How to use these in Figma

  1. Drag the image in as a new image fill.
  2. Set the fill to Tile mode in the panel.
  3. Adjust the scale until the weave reads at your frame size.
  4. Lower the fill opacity for a subtler backdrop.

How to use these in After Effects

  1. Import the texture as a footage item.
  2. Scale the layer to cover the frame, or tile it.
  3. Add a light Bevel Alpha effect to emphasize the weave.
  4. Pre-compose it before layering title text on top.

Tips for Fabric Background specifically

Weave patterns can look busy behind small text — keep type large or place it on a solid card above the texture.

A Linen Weave tinted to match your brand color reads more premium than a stock white version.

These pair well with paper or cardboard textures for a handmade, craft-store aesthetic.
