[Leather] Distressed Textures
Distressed leather is wear with a history. The grain is rubbed flat where hands and edges make contact, and darker where oils have soaked in — not evenly scratched across the whole surface.

What's in this collection
- Worn full grain — polished high points with darker creases.
- Cracked finish — surface coating splitting over a lighter base.
- Scuffed leather — abraded patches with exposed nap.
- Vintage patina — uneven darkening from age and handling.
All tiles are seamless in both directions and delivered at high resolution.
Where distressed leather is used
Character gear. Belts, holsters, boots, armour straps and satchels.
Interior visualization. Club chairs, chesterfield sofas and bar seating.
Vehicle interiors. Aged car seats and steering wheel wraps.
Prop detail. Book bindings, luggage, tool rolls and saddlery.
How to use these in Blender
- Load the map into Base Color with Metallic at 0.
- Vary Roughness from the texture — worn areas around 0.3, unworn around 0.6.
- Add a small Specular tint; leather oils give a warm highlight.
- Use a Bump node for grain and a separate mask for crease depth.
How to use these in Unreal Engine 5
- Import at 2K with a packed roughness and AO texture.
- Drive wear intensity from a curvature mask so edges polish naturally.
- Keep Specular at 0.5 and let roughness do the work.
- Add subtle sheen on worn patches for grazing-angle highlights.
How to use these in Unity
- Create a URP Lit material and use a mask map for smoothness variation.
- Tile 2–3 times per metre on furniture, tighter on small props.
- Assign the grain normal at full strength; leather grain is deep.
- Darken crease regions with baked AO rather than albedo painting.
Tips for distressed leather specifically
Wear follows contact, not randomness. Put the shine on edges, seams and seat centres, and leave protected areas untouched.
Cracks should reveal a lighter colour underneath. Uniformly dark cracks read as dirt rather than split finish.
Avoid making the whole surface glossy. Real distressed leather has a mix of dull and polished zones within a few centimetres.
