[Background] Solid Textures

A solid background sounds like the simplest texture on this site, but a clean one is harder to get right than it looks. These panels carry just enough grain and tonal drift to read as material, not a flat color fill, which is exactly what separates a real backdrop from a plain rectangle.

Free for personal and commercial use. No attribution required. Commercial games, film, and client work are all permitted. No credit, no backlink, no permission request needed. You may not resell or redistribute the texture files themselves as a texture pack.

What's in this collection

  • Matte Solid — flat single-tone panels with a faint paper grain.
  • Grain Solid — fine noise layered evenly across the tone.
  • Soft Gradient Solid — a barely-there tonal shift edge to edge.
  • Vignette Solid — gentle center-to-edge darkening for framing.

All tiles are seamless in both directions and delivered at high resolution.

Where Solid Background is used

Product photography. A neutral backdrop that keeps focus on the subject.

App and web UI. Section dividers and hero panels with texture but no noise.

Presentation slides. A quiet base layer that won't fight with charts or text.

Print and packaging. Backgrounds for box art, labels, and stationery mockups.

How to use these in Photoshop

  1. Select All, then Edit > Define Pattern.
  2. New layer, fill it via Edit > Fill > Pattern.
  3. Scale the pattern with Free Transform as needed.
  4. Adjust Levels or Curves to match your composition.

How to use these in Figma

  1. Drag the image in as a new image fill.
  2. Set the fill to Tile mode in the panel.
  3. Adjust the scale until the seam disappears.
  4. Lower the opacity for a subtler background layer.

How to use these in After Effects

  1. Import the texture as a footage item.
  2. Scale the layer to cover the frame, or tile it.
  3. Add a Levels layer above to match your grade.
  4. Pre-compose it before animating camera movement.

Tips for Solid Background specifically

These panels are understated, so small color shifts matter more than usual — check them against your brand palette first.

Pair a Matte Solid with a sharper foreground texture, or use a Vignette Solid alone as a full-bleed backdrop.

At small UI sizes the grain can vanish, so preview at final scale before finalizing.
